LIFETIME FITNESS DALLAS, THE IMPORTANCE OF MAP TESTING
February 11, 2008 by dr. lam · Leave a Comment
IÂ wish my building could also offer fitness services in addition to anti-aging, wellness, aesthetic, dental, etc. Â However, the margins are too tight for a small boutique center, and I cannot build a 55,000 square foot fitness center in my space. Â However, I do believe that a good fitness program is essential in one’s overall wellness strategy. Â That is why I decided to make this short film on MAP testing, which has been the single best thing that I have done for my overall fitness in the past year. Â Btw, I do not have any financial relationship with Lifetime Fitness or any other health club. Â However, I only know of this service being offered there and you do not need to be a member to do the test. Â If you do not know your five heart rate zones and you are training without a heart rate monitor, you are exercising blind. Â Also, if you are basing your five zones on some predictive chart, you are also wasting your time. Â Watch this new vlog on how to get a precise measurement of your 5 heart rate zones and why that is so very important, including understanding your RMR (resting metabolic rate).
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

Okay, for you avid readers of my plastic surgery blogs, you can stop reading here. Â This is a fun little entry to tell you guys Happy Chinese New Year (and nothing about plastic surgery)! Â It is officially the Year of the Rat. Â If you are 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, etc. years old this year, it is your year. Â Here’s more about your year if you are a rat: Â ”You are imaginative, charming, and work hard to achieve your goals and are likely to be a driving perfectionist. Â Although sometimes thrifty, you can be extremely generous with the one you love. Â You are compatible with dragons, monkeys, & oxen but should avoid horses.” Â Some well known rats include Marlon Brando, William Shakespeare, Truman Capote, Gene Kelly & George Washington. Â My mom cooked a special Chinese new year banquet for my staff and all the staff of our building today. Â (I will be uploading images from that party to the Staff Events and Retreats page later today.) Â We had NEEN-GO which is a type of rice patty because the word sounds like “year higher” to indicate that this would be a prosperous year. Â We also had egg rolls, which look like gold bricks, so that indicates prosperity. Â So Happy New Year, Everyone!
NEW PLASTIC SURGERY TEAM BIOS AND FUN FACTS

Hey guys, just wanted to inform you that I have almost finished putting together some interesting factoids on each of my staff members including their favorite books, movies, music, and hobbies. Â You can find this information in the “Staff Bios & Videos” section under each respective staff member. Â I just wanted you to get to know my staff members more personally so that if you had a positive interaction with someone in my office, you could see if you have a common interest or something. Â That may make it a fun topic next time you see that staff member. Â Part of what I am particularly proud of is the culture that I have established in the office and how each staff member radiates the compassion, passion, and integrity that hopefully I possess. Â Their “What It Means to Work at LFP” is particularly poignant for me. Â Just waiting on my anesthesia staff to get me their bios: Â what are you guys asleep from the anesthesia? Â Okay, I know they are going to get me theirs really soon!

IÂ went to Cleveland last year to investigate putting the premier center for anti-aging and vitality in my building and shot these two educational videos that I think will help you see why I decided to put them in my building. Â I hope that these short lectures will help you better understand how important anti-aging medicine has become today and make you better educated before our brand new 2,600 square foot clinic opens in 2 weeks! Â To reserve your spot, call 972-312-8881. Â I also encourage you to take their free survey on their website (bottom of the page): Â http://www.antiagingandvitality.com/. Â You can find both of these videos in my video log (vlog) section.
