IÂ will be featured tomorrow night, Tuesday night, on local Dallas-Fort Worth television on Channel 8 WFAA, ABC News, doing a segment on injectable rhinoplasty. Â I have 4 patients that should be featured: Â two virgin cases or primary rhinoplasty and two revision rhinoplasty cases all using Restylane as an office procedure. Â I don’t know how many patients will actually be featured. Â That is up to the journalist. (I don’t know what time the segment will air.)
BEWARE OF THE UPPER LIP!
May 16, 2008 by dr. lam · Leave a Comment
As most of you who follow my videos know, I am staunchly opposed to an aggressive augmentation of the upper lip EVEN THOUGH THAT IS WHERE MOST WOMEN WANT FILLERS TO BE PLACED. Â The photo that you see above is of a nice lady who had gore-tex placed into her upper (and lower) lip followed by fat transfer and the problem just kept getting worse. Â Fortunately, I was able to evaluate the problem which was almost entirely the upper lip being too big and amorphous. Â I reduced the upper lip (which was entirely covering her teeth as well) to be more proportionate to the lower lip, meaning much smaller, and also shaped the design into 3 sections instead of a single tube. Â I also removed the very hard and shrunken Gore-Tex strands and some of the transplanted fat from the upper lip to create a balanced look. Â She not only has a more natural appearing lip, she can show off her pearly whites (a sign of more youthfulness as well since we tend to cover our upper teeth as we age), and has a more natural feeling lip. Â I hope most PSs out there perform lip enhancement with an eye toward beauty and proportion and not just size. Â Also, my patient was chasing symmetry which compounded the problem. Â Symmetry (read my blog from way back when) is not relevant unless it is grossly noticeable. Â We often focus on size and symmetry when I would like to replace those words with shape and proportion. Â Watch my video to understand these concepts better. Â When you select a PS don’t just go with a technician but go with an artist. Â Make sure you review his/her lip work before deciding on that person. Â When I look at a lot of my colleagues’ lip work, the before looks better than the after!
Good Morning Texas Features iVital

I’m really proud of the feature that Good Morning Texas did on my lap band center, ivital, which resides upstairs in my building who help me in my total wellness concept. Â For those of you who do not know, the lap band is a simple procedure done as an outpatient to place a reversible and adjustable ring in the upper stomach to manage hunger and satiety without the risk, recovery, and problems associated with traditional gastric bypass surgery. Â To find out more, contact ivital.com or watch the segment with medical director, Theresa Garza, on GMT.

IÂ just posted a video of our opening party for our spa from Saturday night. Â As you can see, we have a lot more to go with the interior space but we should be open for business in less than 3 weeks. Â It is shaping up beautifully! Â You can find the video at the bottom of my vlog section. Â Btw, I did not do the filming so things look a bit jumpy.
GREAT SPA OPENING LAST NIGHT

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who have worked so hard to make our spa opening last night a resounding success! Â Richard Crawford, our general contractor, has been working around the clock to make sure the place gets opened (sooner than later). Â He always has a smile on his face despite the long hours and multiple change orders. Â Gary Williams, both the architect for the building and the interior of the spa, has done an amazing job at workspace design and flow (and putting up with me). Â Roger Leighton and Shirley Flabiano of SAS Interiors came into the picture just last week to overhaul (literally) the entire interior space and redid everything from scratch. Â (Hence, we are 2 and a half weeks from our true opening.) Â Their artistic brilliance is truly unmatched, including the 8 foot fish tank in the lobby, the handpainted leaves that will adorn and cover our windows floor to ceiling, the three-dimensional plaster waves that will wrap our reception desk, the handpainted wall behind the manicure/pedicure section, the floating shoji screens in the massage rooms, the digitally projected waterfall that will match our imposing backlit waterfall entering the spa, and the million other finishes that they have so creatively undertaken. Â Waleska, her parents, Connie, Isabell, the list is infinite. Â Bradley and Chris for the gourmet dining and bar service. Â We should be formally open in 2 and a half weeks as mentioned. Â I guess perfectionism comes with a price. Â It has taken a bit longer to get this thing open but I want your experience with us to be the best!
