DALLAS PLASTIC SURGEON DISCUSSES CREATING & SUSTAINING CULTURE THROUGH LEADERSHIP IN LAS VEGAS

Just got back last night from Las Vegas.  Great meeting.  I spent most of the meeting in the business development section where I lectured on Creating & Sustaining Culture by Leading at a Higher Level.  This was a fun lecture that I posted in its entirety in the Media Center under Video Lectures (It is the last one).  I also posted my Asian Rhinoplasty lecture.  I gave two other talks:  Perioral Rejuvenation with Fat Grafting and Postoperative Considerations Following Fat Transfer and Fillers.  I was just too burnt on Sunday to post these lectures.  Sorry.  Also, I was on two panels:  Leveraging Your Website with Video and Technology Panel on Laser Technologies.  I also had created all of the Audience Response Survey questions. So you can see I was quite busy.

Lecturing in Vegas: Probably no blogs until Monday next week

las vegas plastic surgery

Hi everyone. Just wanted to say I will not have a lot of blogs this week as I am lecturing in Vegas now.  Just gave a spectacular and fun lecture on Corporate Culture by Leading at a Higher Level.  I’ll have that posted on this site when I return next week.  Sorry for the lack of blogs this week.  I have like 7 lectures to give so I won’t have much time to do any blogging.  Yes, as you can see I am still trying to be diligent in my forum responses though.  That is important to me.

“GIVE ME A CHILD UNTIL HE IS 7, AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE MAN.”

DALLAS PLASTIC SURGEON FINDS PASSIONS WHEN HE WAS A CHILD

When I was 12 years old in my 6th grade class, I was given the assignment by my teacher Ms. Bonnie Hopkins to write my auto-biography. My mother, of course, digs this dusty tome out to read it to me the other night.  Here are a few excerpts that I thought were interesting. From the “Talents & Hobbies” section (written curiously in the 3rd person): “He likes model building. He is proud to display what he has accomplished. He likes art especially sketching and oil painting. Much of his work was creative with his imagination.” That was basically the entire section of my “talents and hobbies”. Under “Future Plans”, I have “He would like to go to a good medical school and then to get specialized training in a medical center to become a specialist in medicine.” This is really interesting to me because obviously I don’t remember writing any of this stuff. However, there is no denying that I have married my “talents & hobbies” with my “future plans” pretty much on the nose.

For those who have not seen Michael Apted’s film series: 7 up, 14 up, 21 up, etc. It is very interesting about a bunch of British kids who are followed every seven years of their life from 7 now to 49 years of age. You can see where they are today has roots in where they were as individuals even at the tender age of 7. His saying, “Give me a child until he is 7, and I will give you the man” isapropos here. I had to watch the original films for British history class at university in which the commentary was how British society was so stifling in its aristocratic heritage that your destiny was set early on in life based on your station. However, I am trying to put a different spin on that. I think it is interesting that if we are true to our own passions deep down inside, we will find that they were there all along.

DO YOU SEE EINSTEIN OR MONROE?

Albert Einstein and Marilyng Monroe Optical Illusion

A patient from the East Coast sent me this funny and interesting photo.  If you are a couple of feet away from the attached photo, you will see Albert Einstein.  If you are 10 feet away, you will see Marilyn Monroe.  Very weird???!!!  Don’t try to view this on a small screen like a Blackberry.  It might be harder to appreciate.

Of course, now I have to blog about what this funny photo has to do with facial cosmetic enhancement.  As many of you know, I think my lovely female patients look too closely at themselves in the mirror to judge their facial problems so everything looks ugly.  If you take a step back and see yourself the way that others do, you will look beautiful.  So don’t be an Einstein be a Monroe.  What do ladies see?  Fine lines around the mouth or “Doctor, this area around my mouth bothers me.”  Oftentimes, no human being on this planet can see those fine lines.  What is interesting is one woman will see her fine lines.  The other woman will see her fine lines but when one woman looks at the other, neither will see the others.

Now, why is that important? Because it is a waste of money to fill those lines in many cases.  I’ll do it if you really want but it hurts me to waste your money for no reason.  Remember we see each other as a total composite not in a micromanaging way.  We make snap judgments of each others’ beauty and handsomeness in seconds.  Those are the areas that I should fix first.  That is why you trust me.  Don’t worry if you really want those invisible lines to be improved, I’ll fill them.  I just hope we can focus on the Marilyn Monroe not the Albert Einstein.

BODYWORK CENTRAL: MY BUTT IS KICKED!

rolf dallas, massage dallas, spa dallas

I have been experiencing some great (but powerful) bodywork experiences the past couple of days.  I feel like my sister’s dog, Dodger, who is photographed and featured here wearing a stylish green shirt. Interviewing a new massage therapist last night involved a one hour massage session which was simply incredible.  Neko (spelling?) was an incredibly talented individual who also possessed three other attributes that I thought were fantastic:  education (he talked about world history, geography, and languages with me.  We spoke some Turkish and Russian.  I know a few words in each.), professionalism (he told me his philosophy about how to provide excellent, respectful massages), and integrity (I truly value a gentleman’s ethics and moral compass.  He has both.)  I believe he is on board with us for our new Spa at Willow Bend.  He is simply in a word, incredible.

Okay, now for the adventures of Lava Man and Lava Boy!  I have experienced my first four-hand Rolf session with Lava Man (aka Eduardo, see previous post of why he is called Lava Man.  He lives up to the name!) and Lava Boy (aka Michael Solberg.  Just had to name him that.  He just needs some yellow tights and a codpiece and he is all set).  What is a four-hand Rolf session?  In a word, brutality.  But in a great way.  I truly believe that they have mastered the good cop/bad cop scenario.  When Lava Man is manipulating a certain area, Lava Boy calms down.  When Lava Boy starts in, Lava Man cools the fires.  It was like an orchestra or perhaps dueling banjos.  Once you’ve tasted the Beluga it is hard to go back to a standard 2 hand deal (i.e., one guy).  It was really amazing.  They “rolfed” one leg and I was walking with power and speed on that side and the other side felt like a stiff board.  They rolfed the other side and it magically opened up.  I could literally feel everything open up.  It is like magic.  I do a lot of spinning classes and I know my legs have gotten rock tight.  It is great to get them straightened out again.  Lava Man (Eduardo) told me that my left arm was in the process of undergoing Dupuytren’s contracture due the use of that arm for fat harvesting.  He showed me how it opened up and I could feel it straighten.  Amazing stuff.

Our building kicks some butt (in this case mine) with the full gamut of sophisticated bodywork options from the best in the world.  I can’t wait to tell you what’s coming up next.
