Hong Kong is a great place! It's an amazing view from Kowloon. Dr. Lam, I have an apt with you during mid-Sept. I would like to get upper-lip reduction and a stronger chin and jawline. I'm Arab-American--my head is round. I kinda look like 'Paul' the gentleman in the video on Youtube. I got a big head like his :-). I've heard about the autologous process to improve the chin and jaw. Do you perform that? It sounds more natural, but what do I know. What your are thoughts? Thank you and I look forward to meeting you, David R

Great! My books show the "gory details": they are for surgeons. That is why they are behind glass. But I can show them to you next time you pop in.
best,

So I'm reading Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.....translation/Rubin...I like it a lot! It's fantastical, all right. Nice departure from my favorite (dec.) Russians.

BTW, we'd love to read your books--you keep them behind glass....:)

I tried to read One Hundred Years of Solitude years ago, but couldn't. Maybe I'll try again. Thanks!

Hi Lisa,
thanks. this blog is going to get a bit weird if I now use it to talk about books I recommend. Of course, I recommend my books that I wrote! Just kidding. Okay, here's a book that I am currently reading that I think is great as far as leadership goes (since that is a real passion of mine): Nuts! It is a book written about the history of Southwest Airlines and the leadership exerted by Herb Kelleher, the founder of the airline. I think its service oriented and staff oriented philosophy is something I espouse and feel strongly about. Most of the time I am reading business books and have not read a lot of good literature for quite a while. A sad thing I know.

If you want some good literature that I have read in the past, I really enjoyed Haruki Murakami's book, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. I have read many of his books but that one is my favorite and his real masterpiece. I actually read it many years ago when I was traveling through Japan during my studies there and found it particularly interesting given the context of my travels. It is a bit of a fantastic novel in both senses of the word in that there is a magical element to the story like Gabriel Garcia Marquez's writings (whom I also love). If you are a realist, you may not get into The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. But if you suspend your disbelief a moment, I think you will like it. It also has a very interesting accounting of Japan's past, especially told during WWII, so it is very revelatory in Mr. Murakami's accounting of his own nation's pasts sins. I was interested in that since I was a history major (European though) and also really loved Tokugawa Japanese history.

Great! I enjoy the way you think. I always learn something new here.
Maybe you'll recommend an occasional book?

Good morning, everyone. Yes, it is early morning here in Hong Kong where I am currently lecturing. During the development of this website, I have learned quite a bit. I am trying to make this site as informative for the consumer as I possibly can. I realized that the forum section that I had developed in which people like you asked me questions was simply that a forum. This section, which is a real blog, is principally for me to give you my random thoughts (hopefully not so random) and also for you to comment on them if you so desire. I will probably be doing most of my musings here. Also, what I thought is that if I do a major section update or even a minor one to the website, I could let you know about it here since the website is currently almost 1500 pages long and if I update a section you probably would have to hunt it down. As you probably see, I update my site every day so there is almost always something new on it, whether it be birthday photos for a staff birthday party or a new before and after photograph. I hope you like this new section, and thanks for reading it.
