Hi Dr. Lam,
just happened to browse your blog, and I was intrigued by your recent postings. I am myself in the middle of exploring Buddhist teachings and just finished "Buddhism is not what you think" by Steve Hagen.
One of the things he writes is that Buddha's teachings go even further than showing us how to liberate ourselves from "dukkha" (suffering, sorrow, confusion...). He states that liberation is not equivalent to resignation or acceptance, and that authentic freedom of mind comes from seeing "what's really taking place in each moment. Things will then reveal themselves as the ephemera that they are and always were...But when we see what's really taking place - that the actual events of our immediate experience ar not separate or removed from us - we realize that there's nothing to accept and nothing to resign ourselves to...In fact, in liberation it becomes clear that there's no separate person to be liberated, nor is there anything to be liberated from. To see this is to be free."
Thought you might find this interesting.
