Psycho-Cybernetics Part 7 of 30: De-Hypnotizing & Relaxing
May 14, 2009 by dr. lam
From yesterday’s blog, if we hold ourselves to be neither superior nor inferior to another, then how should we view ourselves? Simply put, as unique. We focus on our own selves and our own accomplishments, our own desires, and our own thoughts. The ideas that have been ingrained into us are like a hypnosis in which authority that has repeatedly told us one thing has compelled us to believe its truth. However, as much as that false belief has entered our mind through a passive acceptance, we should passively allow those thoughts to leave us. We can do that through a relaxed attitude of allowing those false beliefs to start to leave us using a relaxation visualization exercise.
A relaxed body will bring about a relaxed mind. The weekly meditation exercises that are separate but part of this series on Monday’s will hopefully prove helpful in our quest to achieve mastery of psycho-cybernetics. We should relax every muscle in our body and begin to let go of the tension within. Slowly bring your mind to a time in your life in which you were at peace and found considerable enjoyment. Maybe a vacation on a lake or something of that sort. Vividly put yourself there. Begin to feel yourself letting go of tension, negative self beliefs, self doubt, self hatred, and anxiety. When we practice to remain calm and begin to let our fears go, we can begin to de-hypnotize ourselves and bring our true self image into alignment almost automatically and sub-consciously. We permit our servo-mechanism to achieve success to do the job rather than our contrived force of will.

I love that idea about looking at ourselves as unique! Love it!!! I find it also enriching to view others as unique too. When I look at a person as unique instead of a comparison to another person, it gives me a much richer appreciation for that individual. It allows me to see people as totally unique and totally special. It really makes a difference. I am sure that viewing oneself as unique will also give someone a greater appreciation for his/herself and in turn boost one’s self-esteem. Great!
