Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul Part 1 of 9: Energy and Change
December 23, 2009 by dr. lam
Deepak Chopra’s book, Reinventing The Body, Resurrecting the Soul, was a joy to read and to digest. As I have stated often, these blogs are as much therapy for me to write as hopefully they are for you to read. Chopra’s book is chock full of anecdotes, witticisms, and insight, and I encourage my readers of this blog to get it and to read it in its entirety. I have only chosen a few select passages from the book that have had resonance with me personally. You may find other parts of the book more enlightening or more tailored for you.
He starts the book with the idea that our body is a fiction, i.e., our conventional knowledge that our body is a fixed physical entity is a falsehood. Instead, our body is a product of our energy. When we hate others, we become a product of that hate, as disease enters our spirit and ultimately affects our body. When we are in a destructive relationship, that not only eats into our soul but it then robs us of our bodily health and vitality.
Looking at our body as a pure source of energy then, we can see that we are mutable creatures that can be influenced by our thoughts and our emotions. If we perceive the static nature of our body, so there shall we reside. However, if we work to focus on the flowing energy (rather than the stuck, negative energy), we can begin to free ourselves into wondrous creatures that we potentially can be, as this blog series will explore in depth.

Wonderful!
Thanks for another great blog.
thanks so much nord!
My grandmother had three sisters. I knew them all very well. Among these, two were very calm, relaxed, and always creating something wonderful. The other two were quite nervous, excitable, and easily rattled. The calm and creative sisters looked truly magnificent well into their 80’s and 90’s. They all smoked like trains, but not much sun for any. I’m not advocating smoking like a train, though.
Not speaking against it, either, lol.
Great blog!!! Can’t wait for the rest on this!
I love concepts that put our thinking in more control over our conditions, whatever they may be. Also, we can get to a point where the negative energy of others around us doesn’t affect us, or at least doesn’t affect our outlook about ourselves.
I’m excited about Christmas Eve tomorrow!!! I hope it snows! I’m such a kid at heart!…lol
Funny, Nord!…lol I have an aunt that baked in the sun her entire life (model type…lol), well now she is in her sixties and is still a gorgeous model with a great complexion and hardly any wrinkles!, so I think staying out of the sun is overrated too. My great-grandpa was a chained smoker his entire life and died when he was over 100, so you might have a point there, but his wife (great-grandma) died from his secondhand smoke, but she was even ninety something.
Gee, Dr. Lam, did you know this relates to your blog? Jk
well, let’s get baked in the sun, smoke like a chimney, and eat bad food. sounds like my blog buddies are learning a lot of good stuff from my blogs. lol.
merry xmas/happy holidays/happy new year!
Haha, Dr. Lam!..lol
Hilarious. Hey, how about some comprehension! Was I off-task again? lol I thought I was backing up the premise here.
Thanks for the laughs you two.
