The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Part 2 of 8: The Law of Pure Potentiality
April 13, 2010 by dr. lam
Chopra defines pure potentiality as “pure consciousness; it is the field of all possibilities and infinite creativity.” To be in contact with this divine presence, we need to be silent so that a thought we have can be like a stone thrown out over a placid lake will have defined ripples. Compare this with a ship sinking in a turbulent sea: if we are standing on the shore, we may not even notice this tragic event because it is consumed in an engulfing noise.
Chopra offers meditation as a way to be silent and in touch with our divine purpose and our divine self, as the Bible says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” He divides our true self from our false self, or ego. Our true self can be contact with peace and divinity; whereas our “social mask”, or ego, is worn to impress others and to gain the approval of those we encounter. To be in contact with our true self, we can be in contact with our pure potentiality.
Another way that Chopra suggests that we can be in touch with our pure potentiality is to release judgment. We are too often in a mode of “I’m glad I’m not that person because he is SO….” We should release our own marred judgment of another person that emanates from our own ego position. As Chopra suggests, “Today I shall judge nothing that occurs.”
The final element that Chopra recommends is to be in tune with nature. When we immerse ourselves with the wind, the earth, a waterfall, the sun, we start to see the flow of life force and how all things are interrelated. We start to breathe how we are part of a larger divine plan and how we all can be an expression of pure potentiality.
