The Art of Possibility 12 of 15: How Fascinating

February 5, 2010 by

93002093In the blog about “one-buttock playing”, we talked about how passion can change the world and unleash one’s own desire for life and for living, how ailments can disappear, and how our world can be shaped differently.

Why then do we not live this way?  Oftentimes it is out of fear:  fear of living differently, fear of failing, fear of letting someone else down, and fear of letting ourselves down.

Zander helps us to see things differently.  He encourages us when we make a mistake to throw up our arms way into the air and exclaim, “How fascinating!”  I now have my staff say the same thing.  We need to encourage passionate living so that we can accept our own mistakes and those of others more easily.  “How fascinating!”  Try it!

LOL, no, this time I knew, as occasionally happens! Some friends have a basenji and it is a dog that might say, “How fascinating!” ;)

Now I’m Googling and I’m not certain it’s a Basenji. Maybe. Not sure. Sure cute, though.

    LOLOL to the comments.
I loved this entry and have put it into practice… it has another upside!!
Not only OUR reaction changes when facing a “defeat” (that is then not perceived as such but as something yet to learn, and a nice challenge to do so), but also “breaks the ice” with other people. I have noticed people stare at you when you utter such words and when they discover it’s about a “mistake”, they get even more surprised, but smile, and ask you why you say that, and when you explain “isn’t it fascinating I have always something to learn?” and “isn’t it hilarious how doing some things takes us so long?” or “wow, how fascinating, there is always a way to make a mistake, even when you thought you knew” LOLOL. All that sort of sentences have granted me a few smiles, some laughing even, and peole have relaxed around me. So in the end, the attitude not only benefits oneself, but the otehrs around: the interaction becomes lighter, more friendly, and people often start sharing their own “fascinating” LOL moments.
